The Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden

On 28th of June 2010, the Madagascar-house has been ceremonially opened in the Budapest Zoo Botanical Garden in festival unfolds, that at these days the fiftieth anniversary of the independence of the island has been celebrated. The opening event was attended by Richard Lalarison Randrianasolo, Honorary Consul of Madagascar. In the interior of the new facility, the wildlife of the island is exposed. In addition to these, the daily lives of the inhabitants of the island and their culture are presented as well. Visitors can now see a few types of Maki, birds and amphibians in the new wing, where the exhibition of a typical Malagasy shop decorates the space. The exhibition commemorates as well the Count Maurice Benyovsky Hungarian-born traveler, known as king to a small neighborhood of the island. A few non-governmental organizations - Hungarian organizations working for Africa - were also involved in the 3 days weekend of Madagascar, organized in the Budapest Zoo.
